What is a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD)?
PMADs can affect women during pregnancy and the postpartum period (up to a year postpartum). They cause symptoms that cause emotional and physical problems that make it difficult to enjoy life and function well. PMADs have been reported to affect 1 in 5 to 1 in 7 women during this time period AND 1 in 10 partners.
How do I know if I have a mood or anxiety disorder?
Symptoms of a mood disorder can cause sadness, loss of pleasure, difficulty concentrating and changes in energy. Anxiety disorders can include symptoms of worrying too much, panic attacks, irritability and obsessions. Click on the Screening Tools tab to take appropriate screening questionnaires.
